Description

This project is a runner-type game. Like all runners, the player will have to sprint endlessly and avoid obstacles. The map layout must be simple for now since the main goal is to get the swap mechanic functioning. The major addition to the runner genre would be to add timed character swapping.
The character swapping can be handled similarly to the way Lego games such as star wars and marvel handles their character swaps but with the added challenge of a QuickTime event in the way Dead by Daylight handles their skill checks or Gears handles their active reloads.
The goal is to have the player start running, from there eventually the body timer will count down, and if it reaches zero before a swap is made the player will be ejected from the body and likely lose unless a second chance condition is added. Also, the body timer should be paused when a swap event is occurring.

Innovation

This project is innovative because of its additions to the runner genre, the idea of swapping characters in a game is not new but, in a runner, to incorporate swaps in a quick time without interrupting game flow would be unique, in addition, adding a timer to each character that is swapped would add a new challenge.
The target audience for this innovation would be other game developers, specifically those who are drawn to working on runner games. This feature once completed may inspire others to build it further for their own games and tune it to their own liking. I also believe people who like runner games would like to see this feature implemented to mix up traditional runners.
